Indu is an education trainer who delivers professional development on pedagogy to raise achievement. As an EAL (English as an Additional Language) specialist, she is passionate about inclusive education and trains teachers on how to support EAL students in the mainstream and how to differentiate instruction effectively and easily. As a trained EQ Coach and SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) specialist, she also leads programmes to support the development of SEL in schools and provides coaching for individuals and teams.

Indu began her career as a teacher of English in London. As an EAL and 3rd Culture Kid herself, she knew the importance of harnessing language to succeed in education which meant she instantly identified with the challenges many of her students faced as they grappled with language acquisition. For many years, she focussed on empowering learners through the English classroom. In time, she realised she could share this knowledge with her colleagues across the curriculum so they too could become confident in their ability to support language learning and differentiate instruction to support students to learn more effectively. Indu is a qualified and experienced tutor of Teaching EAL Students in the Mainstream Classroom and How Language Works and has delivered these courses repeatedly to teachers in the schools and groups she has worked with. She has also created her own training programmes in which she seeks to demystify language learning in the mainstream. She was recently interviewed by an attendee of one of her EAL courses, which you can listen to HERE to gain insight into her work in this area.

Indu has spent much time as a teacher, Middle and Senior Leader developing the use of active learning methods and Formative Assessment in the classroom to raise achievement. Although there are many fads that come and go in education, Formative Assessment is not one of them. The application of Formative Assessment has long been recognised as a tool that yields incredible results in achievement as it supports the development of metacognition and nurtures a growth mindset, a blueprint for lifelong success. Her work in this area is greatly influenced by the work of  Dylan Wiliam, Shirley Clarke, Carol Dweck, and John Hattie. Indu seeks to make the work of such scholars accessible through application in the classroom.

Having trained as an Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Coach and SEL Trainer with Six Seconds, Indu understands the powerful role EQ can play to support the achievement of any goal, be it personal, academic, or professional. Indu provides a process and framework for USING emotional intelligence based on eight learnable, measurable, scientifically grounded competencies.  These learnable skills can be acquired through concrete, research-based, and intensely practical processes that can support individuals to use their emotions and self-knowledge to cultivate success and wellbeing. As a Coach, Indu acts as an ally, creating a space for reflection and tapping into the wisdom within.

Indu is passionate about learning; for students, teachers and leaders alike. In her training and coaching, she seeks to empower teachers and school leaders by sharing the knowledge she has acquired (what research has proven works) and facilitating individuals and teams to identify what will be effective in their own contexts.
