Developing Social & Emotional Learning (EQ)
To thrive in life, and succeed in education, we need to be able to harness our emotional intelligence.
There is much research that confirms that the people who achieve real success in life have something which has long been neglected in traditional education: emotional intelligence (EQ).
As a leader, teacher, and parent, Indu has become acutely aware of how crucial it is to develop EQ alongside IQ in schools so that students can thrive within and beyond the school gates.
Indu Bedi, CEQP, is a Certified Six Seconds EQ Practitioner who is qualified to deliver the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence in Education (EQE1) course.
Through Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), students can learn how to support their own and each others’ emotional wellbeing and cultivate their own happiness. Indu has overseen the implementation of a school-wide approach to implement a Social and Emotional Learning curriculum from Foundation through to the final years of Secondary. She supported the development of teacher knowledge and skills in teaching SEL through training days and Teacher Learning Communities to support ongoing professional development.

The Six Seconds course offers a practical demonstration of the competencies which underpin emotional intelligence. Teachers will first learn and experience how SEL works for themselves and how to model and support these essential skills for learners.
